Let's Just Make It An Evie Video Festival

Here's another for those of us that can't get enough cuteness.

This was almost two years ago! How did that happen?

Good Memory

Evie has been blessed with a good memory.
It surprises me what she can remember and how quickly she picks up on things.

I however, can be forgetful and haven't shared this video from several months ago.

Evie's begun memorizing Bible verses, and these are the first few that she has learned.

A hope of mine is that she will continue to write these on her heart; so that when she faces doubt, fear, discouragement or joy, she will hear God's promises and perspective being whispered in her ear.

Heavy on Photos, Light on Words: Part I

Before we have yet another adventure that goes undocumented (blog-wise, that is), I need to share a few to keep from getting so behind!
So please excuse the lack of story, and use your imagination to fill in the blanks. :)

The setting: Zoo
Characters: Cute Cousins
Props: Giant lollies from Elisabeth

Evie's New Do!

Here are a couple of before pics, a la Easter morning...
(sidenote to LaLa: the golden sparkly shoes weren't staying on,
but as soon as her feet grow again they'll be in high rotation!)

This was Evie posing for her picture... she is an arteest!

She was in a somber mood at the salon,
even though she'd been asking for two months to get her hair cut.
I was the one freaking out on the inside, just a little bit.

She chose a rocket to sit on and Dora to watch,
how else would a three-year-old sit still for 45 minutes?
That's how long it took to cut all that hair, 45 minutes!

We had planned on doing Locks For Love, but it would have been up to her chin to cut off 10 inches... so drastic!
Maybe next time.

Look at that expression, goodness.
I told her "You are going to step on it!"
(referring to her bottom lip, like Grandma-Great always says),
but even that wouldn't get a smile.

When we were leaving the salon, she told me that she didn't like her haircut.
But later, once we were home and looked in the mirror, she said "It looks wonderful."

That's always how I feel after a big haircut...
Big mistake!
Oh, it's nice.
Big mistake!
I like it.
Why did I do that?
Why didn't I do that sooner?

I really like the cut on Evie, I think it's becoming.

Camera Shy

This might just be a part of being three, but sometimes Evie's a ham for the camera and others, she hides.

Neatly camouflaged behind the giant star-pillow

"Cheesing" for the camera...

Sleeping Babe

Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping babe?

Not a sight seen often around here... this is not a child that willy-nilly falls asleep anywhere. No falling asleep in her soup, or upside-down on the couch like I've seen others do.

Everything has it's place, and the place for sleeping is a bed.

Oh, what a smitten mommy I am.

Cousins

Well, hello handsome!
Cruz is our newest little cousin...
he's growing all too quickly, but he makes up for that with his sweetness.
Look at that face!

Speaking of growing too quickly... Evie looks entirely too grown-up in this picture.

I love that Evie and Eliana were able to share the giant doggy!
He might have met his end today with all their rough-housing...
we kept finding piles of stuffing that had come out.

The kiddos had a very toddler-friendly lunch, but I think Bethany and I had the treat. Homemade bierocks, YUM.

Evie and Eliana couldn't have been more opposite in their painting style!
Evie wasn't too into it today, but typically doesn't like to get messy.
In fact, a couple drops of ice cream on her dress brought her to tears.
Eliana on the other hand...

painted her tongue, wrist,

and tummy (oh yes, and the paper!)
She had Bethany and I dying with laughter.

I wish we could have stayed all afternoon, but the kiddos were getting tired.
I made a quick exit to try and avoid the teary departure we had from the zoo last week.
I hope to post pictures from that visit too!

Sidewalk Chalk and Graham Crackers

Just a few photos from our afternoon...
it was such a beautiful day, we had lunch outside at Botanica with my momma.
That would be enough to make my day, but we also saw the first flowers of the season: crocus, pansies and snowdrops.
AND after Evie's "nap", we got out the sidewalk chalk.

I've forgotten how many legs spiders have...

Tomorrow we're supposed to have snow and ice.
Bummer.
But, it is still February and I should be glad we had today. So there.

A Pony Birthday Party

We had a sweet, little celebration for this sweet, little girl.

My dear cousin Bethany and I

I had to wait a couple frames to get my dad's eyes on me... he couldn't take his eyes off of momma.
I love that.

Momma and her SIL Laurel, and little Cruz

Beautiful sisters, Bethany and Elisabeth, sitting for the last of my pictures, (I was bossing people around to get these groupings).

The cake was Evie's request... chocolate, yellow, with unicorns on it with purple and pink too.
The frosting was peppermint, yum.

The ponies were from LaLa's childhood, (Evie's grandmother that we don't call grandmother)!

Handsome daddy

With cinnamon & sugar pretzels, white-chocolate pretzel rods, bowls of lollipops, punch, grapes, and cake and ice cream we had way more goodies than what we could get away with!

The carousel cake topper made a hat for Finley. It was much cuter on him, of course!

Later that day, dinner cuteness. I had to grab my camera to catch the mimicking.

This isn't the best photo of it, but I wanted to show you the funny little unicorn I made for Evie! It turned out so small and that made it really tricky, but I am hooked and want to make more little dolls and animals now, like this one... too cute!
